Just Listen! — Is Dress your PROBLEM?

I came around a recent tweet as you see below!! The reason Why I came up with this topic.

It states that the Tamil Nadu government came up with a dress code which has to be followed by the Secretariat employees. Women will have to wear churidar with dupatta while they are on government duty. In the sense, it will help lower sexual harassment cases and enhances good security among the girls! Ahaan…Is it so?

You Know what, I was really happy with the initiative…

So, soonly an incident happened at Warangal district on Tuesday, a 25-year-old man was held for allegedly raping and murdering a nine-month-old girl. The accused, took the baby in the wee hours, while she was asleep alongside her parents on the terrace of their house and sexually assaulted her.

Child Rape!

Do you think that the nine-month-old girl’s dress tempted the men to have sex? If you say YES! I will give you the other incident that occurred.

She asked for it. The way she was dressed in that skirt you could see everything she had. She was advertising for sex. We felt she was up to no good by the way she dressed. She was obviously dressed for a good time, but we felt she may have bitten off more than she could chew”. These words were spoken by jurors who reached a unanimous verdict, acquitting a man of charges of kidnapping and sexual assault in a Case. These statements reflect the stereotypical belief that women invite their own rapes, sexual assaults and sexual harassment by the manner in which they dress.

According to me, It doesn’t matter how the girl is, it’s her right to be dressed in shorts , her right to be pretty, her right to smile, her right to walk, her right to do what she wants similarly like you. It’s completely her decision what bothers you??? If you didn’t consent to sex, it’s rape, and it’s the rapist’s fault.

An Indian dress such as churidar or Salwar Kameez. Do you see anything weird? Nothing Right? A situation arrived, when a girl headed back to home from college, she was wearing this so called socially acceptable dress, covered all over the body was raped. She is none other than the rape victim Nirbhaya!

When I was in search of answers to all these? The society answers me, I was glad but what did it answer…It’s teaching me how to not get raped rather than saying them not to rape.

Don’t tell me How to Dress. Tell them NOT TO RAPE !!!

We define the Rape of a woman because she wore less and was revealing. There is nothing that victims do which causes or contributes to their rape. The responsibility and accountability for the crime rest solely and exclusively on the perpetrator. The point here is that a rapist sees women only as a sex object.

What kind of dress would have aroused the person to rape 9-months-old, 5-year-olds and 2-year-olds? If you see this, do you even think so the poor kids were at the wrong place at the wrong time or the rapists allowed to be at the right place. It is alarming that too many of these cases are children. One in three rape victims is a child. More than 7,200 children including infants are raped every year; experts believe that many more cases go unreported.

Does it a matter of discussion whether a 5-year-old girl’s dress has invoked the rapist to do the rape or not…Not at all!!

The Research says, “ Rape happens in every fragment of the globe. It happens in Burkha wearing countries, rural section of the country, mini skirt wearing part of the country and everywhere we can say”.

I am not against the opinions where people are advising to wear socially acceptable dresses to be safe. But it’s not like “socially acceptable dress” ensures complete safety and other kinds of clothes guarantee rape.

It is not the bruises on the body that hurt. It is the wounds on the heart and the scars on the mind. — Aisha Mirza

This is what you leave a woman as when she is raped. You leave wounds on her body which will heal, but what about the wound and scars you leave deep in her heart and mind. She will never be the same again. You robbed her life and most of all, her life.

Look what you did.

You ruined someone’s smile, someone’s future, someone’s house.

One day it could be yours!

The change required is in the hearts and minds of people — both men and women — who work towards making it safe for everyone at all times.
